FIRST STEP:

In order for a surfing organization to start the process for becoming a National Governing Body (NGB) recognized by the ISA, it must satisfy the following requirements:

  1. Complete the signed Constitution Agreement (click link for template), as outlined by the ISA, on approved letterhead.
  2. Provide the proper contact information for their surfing organization, with the minimum of three Executive members which shall include roles similar to President, Vice President and Treasurer.  This contact information shall include name, email address, phone number, and mailing address for each Executive member.
  3. Submit payment of USD$50.00 in annual membership fees for initial status of a non-participating member of the ISA.  The option to become a participating member is available and will require the annual membership fees to be adjusted to USD$500.00.

SECOND STEP:

The following documentation is required by the ISA in order to complete the membership process.  The ISA may accept an organization as an applying member without full documentation pending receipt of a written statement explaining the reasons for being unable to fulfill certain requirements.

  1. Minutes of the inaugural meeting.
  2. A copy of the Organization’s Rulebook if in existence.
  3. Copy of the document that authorizes the organization to operate under the laws of its own country. Copy should be notarized, certifying that it is a true copy of the original.
  4. Letter of intent or documentation from the local National Olympic Committee or highest sport authority in their country, certifying that the applying organization has applied for recognition or is recognized as the sole governing body for surfing in their country.
