ISA in compliance with the 2009 WADA Anti Doping Code

The International Surfing Association (ISA) is proud to inform that the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) has confirmed that the ISA is in compliance with the 2009 Anti-Doping Code.

Always looking towards excellence in sport and the best sportsmanship attitude from our athletes, the ISA continues to conduct anti-doping tests in each of its events.

Recently the ISA received a letter from WADA Director, Rune Anderson and Senior Manager, Emiliano Simonelli, stating: "We have reviewed your amendments in light of our suggestions, and confirm that you successfully incorporated all the mandatory articles of the 2009 World Anti-Doping Code (the “Code”) into these (ISA) rules.”

ISA highlights this as another important step in surfing's Olympic participation plans.

ISA President Fernando Aguerre said about the ISA compliance with the WADA Anti-Doping Code: “The ISA has been performing IOC/WADA anti doping tests for all ISA finalists in each division of our world championships since 1992.

Only four positive results in 17 years are a clear testimony to the fair play spirit of competitive surfing. We will continue to test all finalists for all WADA listed substances, in full compliance with the WADA approved process.”
